So….

You all having fun?

Hey, am I late for the party?

First day is almost done. (Well, here in Western Canada anyway - some of you are already on Day 2… life just isn’t fair, eh?)

Well, as you can see I’m starting out this post with a link to my 2015 Goal site - you remember my goal, come on, say you do…

A recap: My 2015 Goal was to set TIME aside DAILY to free write. Well, so far, so good, it’s already Day One and it looks like I’m on a roll.  (Stop sniggering, you forget I’m a determined old gal when I set my mind to something.)

Here’s the lowdown on how things are going to work with this goal of mine…

Mid December:

I went through all my photos and selected 365 of them to live on my desktop in a folder aptly named ‘365 pics’ - oh clever me!

And now:

Each day - at some point - can’t say exactly when - I will set my iPhone timer to 15 minutes.

I will then open iPages and get a page ready.

I will then open the ‘365 pics’ folder and randomly select a photo. (I have chosen not to see the photos as pictures in the folder thereby creating the element of surprise.)

Once the picture is open I will click the timer and let my fingers go.

Since I am using my own photos this will eliminate TIME doing a daily photo search. (Not that any of you are safe from me pilfering a pic or two, ask Bushman, he knows all about my sticky fingers.)

I think this will work out nicely. (Now, let’s see if I can type with my fingers crossed!)

Today, I had the pleasure of having tea, and a brisk walk with a dear friend. He brought me over a basket of the most delicious treats.

So as to not make you totally jealous I’ll just show you one of the many…

Delicious Godiva Chocolate - the best for the best!
Now, tell me… aren’t I good stopping at just one?
(Well, one as of typing this - all bets are off after I post this.)

Here are the things I’m looking forward to this year:
  • finishing my renovations
  • finishing the Game of Throne books
  • learning to use my Crock-Pot (All Points Bulletin - send me recipes - please.)
  • getting back into drawing (I really do miss my pencils.)
  • take a life drawing class
  • a road trip to enjoy the wineries in the Okanagan
  • get into gardening (I did grow a tomato plant last year, go me!)
  • attend the SIWC with more than good intentions
  • participating in the A-Z Blogging Challenge (I missed it last year.)

And the number one thing I’m looking forward to doing this year
is visiting your blogs.

Okay… your turn, what are you looking forward to this year?

Cheers, Jenny

PS - Yet another wardrobe change, but, can you see who's hiding in the background?

And… a quick shout out to my very first Follower. (A real one, not family and friends).
Bruce - it's so awesome of you to stop by, with tUcKeR too, and leave a little sweetness behind - you rocked my first day of this New Year!

  1. Great fun in this post. How many chocolates are gone now?

Very cool that you like to draw. Me too. What do you like to draw?

  2. There's still only 1 missing… but the night is still young. Problem is I'm having a beer and chocolate isn't my first choice of a companion for my beer - my beer is rather sensitive about who's invited to the party. hahahaha

I'm interested in drawing portraits. This link will take you to my most favourite piece of work I've created so far. I don't think you were following my blog at that time.

What do you like to draw - besides those adorable little self-caracitures?

    1. Holly barking babies, Batman. You are really, really good. Super cool. Thanks for that link.

I'm a cartoon/comic girl. Some call it low art, I call it FUN.

Tim just let out the last pup, and I am pooped. You're my last stop for the night. Thanks again for sharing your art. Love it.

    2. Haha - thanks, Ivy - you're good for the ego!

Nothing wrong with being a cartoon/comic girl. My daughter, Courtney, (that's a link to her site) is a character designer for a game called Knights and Dragons (it's a free app for handheld devices) and she's a huge cosplay fan - went as Pinkie Pie for her last one. Nothing low art at all about cartoons and comics.

My ex was a huge player of table top war games (painted all his own armies) yup - art of all forms courses through the Pearson Girls! hahahaha

    3. I agree about cartoons/comics. Some call it low art but that's okay with me. It's great fun to be able to draw and write up funny little things.

      Thanks for the link.

    1. I'm looking forward to the A-Z - you're right, it is a fun time, I missed out on that fun last year. I allowed life to dictate my choices - but not this year. I'm making TIME for it… and my art.

Thanks for stopping by, Hilary - your visits are a highlight for me.
      With smiles, Jenny xo

  4. Using the photos is a great idea to get those writing juices flowing! Might steal that one!

I've got an amazing recipe for the crock pot and it's very yummy: Lime Salsa Chicken.

    http://allrecipes.com/recipe/slow-cooker-cilantro-lime-chicken/

I omit the cilantro because, Yick! And added in red peppers and onions, as well as the zest from the lime (recipe only calls for juice). We serve it over rice or wrapped up in a tortilla.

    1. I use the photos for my daily 15 minute free write exercises and got tired of the time needed to search for pictures. Lord knows I take enough photos throughout the year. Please use the idea - I think anything that helps us write is worth sharing.

Thanks for the link to the recipe - I'll check it out. :) :)

    2. I went and checked the recipe out - sound yummy, I like all the ingredients. Like you, though, I'll ease off the cilantro - it can be quite overpowering.

  5. There is one drawing that I am particularly enamored with.
I really thing the Write Club is a great idea. I would love to say I am going to do something like that but I know it would fail. I like to keep my expectations of myself low so I'm not disappointed.
Crock pots and gardening. I'm into that. Sounds like a title to a recipe book.

It's funny that you mentioned the A to Z because just yesterday morning I re-read all my posts from the challenge 3 years ago. I too skipped last year. I won't say I didn't shed a tear or ten and I will admit I did a lot of chuckling. I miss the guy that wrote that stuff. I need to find him again.
On to the new year we go!
    Cheers my friend!

    1. And, which is that drawing?
I think you should throw your glove into the Write Club arena - you'd be good!
Yo, dude, low expectations?? You, come on, the way you put your mind to things you do - damn, you make the rest of us look like weenies. All that work on your garden, your yard, the firewood, prepping for your hunting trip, the repairs to your home… the accomplishments are endless - and so is your drive.
So, what low expectations are you speaking of! :P :P

I'm stoked to read you'll be hitting the A-Z trail again - awesome news!

Heres to a year of "enjoying the journey" - the destination will be reached, one way or another.

Cheers to you too, Bushman - all the best.

  7. Well hello dear Jenny! I am in love with your doggy photo...what a sweet thing!! Goals are so good. I have not set any and you reminded me that I need to. First hand though, I would say I want to paint daily! I've been terrible at this one and should not be.

I just love your sense of humor. Your blog has such a joyful atmosphere.

I wish you the best of New Years! Yay for new starts! Looking forward to your photos!

    xoxo

    1. Aw, if you could only see the smile on my face. Thanks, Lisa, for dropping by.
When I took that photo of Lucy I couldn't help but laugh - she was less than happy that I wouldn't open the door wider… it was funny.

I gave myself this goal (of setting time aside for my writing) because I realized how fast the year went by and how little I had done to fulfil my dreams. While I have not dreams of great notoriety I do want to finish some writing projects and this goal might see me to that end.

I know you will accomplish yours, of painting daily, I see how disciplined you are when I drop in on your blog and check out your work. I'm sorry I don't always comment - I let that slip too - but no longer, I'm back in the saddle and I'm going to ride this horse hard.

Here's to an awesome, and productive, 2015. Cheers, Jenny xxoo :)

    1. Hey Barb - what a treat. Thanks for stopping by.

I'm with you on the "reading more blogs and leaving comments" - I think there's something about staying in touch with bloggers that helped build out sites… folks like you, my buddy Bushman, Bruce, Mynx… and the host of others that were there in the early days… yup, we need a call out to everyone letting them know the ball is rolling again. :) :) Bugle in hand… I'm sounding the call.

  9. I'm playing catch up. I can never stop at one chocolate-I devour them!! I want to organize my papers, magazines and other stuff. As for a crock-pot recipe-Chili-I reg onion diced, 1 green pepper-diced. 1 thing of mushrooms(on that plastic tray), 2 cloves garlic-minced(that garlic press), 1 can of kidney beans(drained), 1 can of diced tomatoes(drained), 1 can of tomato paste(I try to find one with herbs or garlic taste), 1 1/2 lbs of ground beef-cooked and fat drained. Place all together with salt, pepper to taste and i add chili powder, chili pepper spice (for some hot but not too much as i don't want to burn my mouth off) and any other spice you like. Mix it all in the crock pot and then put it on low for about 7-8 hrs or 3-4 on high. Serve:)

    1. Thanks, Birgit, for visiting all my post - what a sweet thing to do. I love reading your comments, you put so much into them. It's a treat to read them all.

I did have two chocolates yesterday, and after typing this I'll have one more. But, mostly I've been into savoury things (though sweets rock still) and have been having lots of nuts (a Christmas thing).

Thanks for the recipe - I've copied it and pasted into a word page so I can print it out. I'll give it a try, I'm a fan of a good chill.

I'm sending smiles and hugs your way, Jenny xo
