A little of THIS and THAT - and a WOOKIE too!

Visit Write Brain Challenge to check out my latest free write piece, and the photo that inspired it. Thanks, Jenny.

First, let me give a shout out to a dear blogging friend of mine

for leaving her encouraging comments over at Write Brain Challenge.

They inspire me to keep on goingTHANKS BARB!

Of course, it’s only been a week since 2015 got off the ground.

But… a week is still seven days closer toward fulfilling my 2015 goal of setting TIME aside to do my 15 minute free write posts.

_____________

Funny thing is… I’m doing more than writing for 15 minutes.

I’m here - writing… I’m commenting, that’s writing too.

And… drum roll please…

I’m working on a project from long ago.

AND THAT MAKES ME HAPPY!

☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀

I want to take a moment to talk about my free writing exercises, because the last two post are so NOT my typical genre.

I find myself rubbing my head after the timer goes off.

I wonder where the heck some of this stuff is coming from - obviously it’s in my head but it does baffle me a bit.

Though, the more I think about it I realize I’m a huge fan of the Star Wars franchise and maybe I’ve got a wookie or two wanting to come out and play.

Anyway… I’m finding it quite refreshing to write from flow - I truly am not thinking about what’s coming forth - the fingers are responding to some deep, inner storyteller.

TOO COOL!

Are you hearing, and listening, to your inner storyteller?

Cheers, Jenny

    1. You make me laugh - I'm never in the current time dimension! I'm always running late… I hope that bodes well for my funeral.

  2. Your writers are enjoying it!! I'm so impressed at your creative mind with this challenge. And I thank you so much for the shout out but I'd be encouraging you no matter what! Love what you're doing. I've kind of started my own challenge myself. Very different from yours. Keep it flowing! Hugs my friend XX

    1. I know you'd encourage me no matter what, dear Barb - you always have - but a shout out is important when it comes to giving back a little love. And you are loved! :)

What kind of challenge have you got going… is it on your blog - I'm heading over right now to check it out. Hugs back… xxoo

  3. To me, this is how I write. Just get it all on the page. Vomit draft all over the place. It's the best. Love it. Hope you keep on enjoying it more and more with each session that you do.

  4. Writing is more than just a creative art form. It's a ritual of self discovery. The more we write-the more we learn about ourselves.
I just learned I'm bat shit crazy!!!!!!!
    Keep up the good work.

    1. Too true - now, I'm only a tad worried what's lurking behind the wookie - I'm thinking this could go one of two ways - mass murder, or dancing in the tulips. hahahaha

I'm glad I'm in quality "bat shit crazy" company! I'll try to keep up the work - as for good, hey, I'm winging it, remember. :)

  5. I tried the 30 minute write challenge and kept it up for awhile before stopping. I might have better luck with 15 minutes! I'm going to give it a try. Happy New Year, Jenny!

    1. 5 mins works - short enough that I can find the time, and with the extra time it takes to prep it for my writing blog the total comes in at about 30 mins.

Doing the numbers, though, made it seem reasonable. As an author, you know that it takes some measure of discipline to get a book out there. So this is my way of creating the discipline - plus it's funny seeing what ends up on the page as in the last two pieces - Going Home and Simpler Times. Not a genre I would think to write in.

Nice seeing you out and about on Blogger - have a great day!

  6. Congratulations on a strong beginning to the New year and what you write is fun to read. I especially like the picture of Han Solo there...made me remember why i went ga-ga for Harrison Ford

    1. Thanks Birgit - One week down. If I see it in weeks it's only 51 more to go! hahaha
I'm such a Han Solo Fan - Harrison Ford is timeless. I'm looking forward to seeing him in the next instalment of Star Wars.

  7. I am listening to my inner storyteller. Unfortunately, he (or she. I'm not sexist) is telling me to "get my butt off Blogger and work on your book!"
    Guess I should listen.

    1. That's not an inner storyteller, that's an inner nag! But… we must listen to those niggly, nagging, annoying little voices now and then - damn them anyway!

      Good to see you!

    2. And, so, here I am, back again. I did write a little on my book, though. It made me giggle.

    3. Hang on...'giggle' doesn't sound terribly manly.
I meant to say 'guffawed, snorted, and farted.'
      There. Much better.

    4. What would the empire have done without you… guffawed, snorted, and farted as we woman sat quietly in the corner, with our knitting, and giggled.

      Ah…. male chauvinism at its finest… oink, oink…. :P :P hahahahaha
