What were you thinking? - another reflection post about 2014.

HA - Not happening on my shift.
And my shift ends at midnight.

I’m so over 2014.

Where did I find such a great shot?

Pump me up…

I've packaged up 2014 and my good friend, Arnie, is taking care of business. (I’m not condoning the use of steroids, but hey, he’s the one carrying the big black box.)

Now that that’s taken care of…

Here, this is my new toy.  (okay, I asked for a Harley, but hey, Santa was feeling the economic slow down and thought I should focus on cooking - I’ve got a few choice words for the fat man…)

The Beast - 5 in One

I received this Crock-Pot from my kids (yup, now I have two - daughter and son-in-law).

I LOVE IT! (I still love the kids a wee bit more - most days)

Yesterday, I slow cooked a pork rib roast - damn, was it fine.

Today, I’m slow cooking a chicken - damn, it smells good.

I even made stuffing, from scratch thank you very much - and it too smells oh so yummy.

Okay, I’m cheating with the Brussels Sprouts. I’m letting my good buddy, GG, take care of those. (Green Giant, for those of you that actually do the whole Brussels Sprouts thing - as I’m not a huge BS fan I refuse to invest precious time in them.)

Roast Chicken and a chilled bottle of Proscecco.

That is how I’m sending off that casket full of 2014 BS… (no, not Brussels Sprouts).

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

BRING ON 2015 - I’M READY. (Hammer and all!)
Yes, I found this too… here.

Are you ready for yet another year to roll you over and have its way with you? (Come on, admit it, that’s what it feels like once the year comes to an end.)

Cheers, Jenny

  1. What a great new toy, along with a second kid. Sounds like good stuff all around. Much fun to you in 2015, with a great big side of boogie boogie.

PS: No cooking for me tonight but I will be making waffle cookies.

    1. New Year's Eve dinner was yummy. All in all this is a great little tool - I'm going to really enjoy using it.

I hope your entry into 2015 was a smooth and cheerful one!

    2. I look forward to hearing about all the fun meals you make. Yes, it was thank you. I stayed in my jams until it was time to shower for bed, then fresh jams.

      Heaven, I say. Heaven.

Just read your recent post, sounds like a very good day, for you, too.

  2. Happy New Year, Jenny! I've heard pulled pork is yummy when cooked in one of those new toys. 2014 was the pits for me. I'm glad to kick it out. I'm hoping for better things in 2015. . .

    1. Thanks, DG. I've seen the recipe for pulled pork - looks tasty. I made a pork rib roast that was amazing, reminded me of my mother's - she loved it too.

Likewise, I'm hoping 2015 will be a little easier… all around.
Let's try and get that coffee in this year! (smiling as I type that) :)

    1. I think the kids had ulterior motives - i.e. - me cooking for them more than twice a year! They have one too and love it so I think they truly were wanting me to have as much fun in the kitchen as they are having.

Hope 2015 is starting you off with a smile! :) xoxo

  5. Excellent gift from your children. And perhaps you'll get a Harley next year - if you're good? :)

Happy New Year from Down Under and Off to the Side!

    1. I've been waiting for that Harley since my 40th - and if I don't get it soon I'll be too old. :) House renovations take precedence. And, I've been good for way too long, maybe it's time to be bad. Who knows maybe that bike won't be so hard to come by then - hahaha. (wicked little laugh going on here)

All the best - 2015 is upon us… yikes! :)

    1. Trepidation and hope - I like that. I think that's how I feel too at times. Once I dive into a new year I'm good to go. Thing is to not get bogged down with resolutions.

Thanks for stopping by. :) xo

    1. I'm looking forward to leftovers today. The chicken was great, though I loved the pork roast a little better. I think I'll be having to really learn all that this puppy can do before I know what's what.

Thanks for stopping by, Julie - good to see you too! :) :)

I'm so happy to see you two are still around - I've missed you both.

I'm smelling some potential blog posts - between you, me and Sir Bushman I think there needs to be some recipe swapping. Well, you two will swap them my way and I'll smile and say thanks! Hahahahaha

As I'm new to this whole crock-pot (do you know how many times I've written crack pot - bad, so bad) thing that I'm counting on you crock pot experts to show me the ropes.

Gosh, do you know how much you've made my day - WELL, YOU HAVE!!!

    1. This is a new toy for me, but I am really liking it so far. I've done two big meals in it - a pork rib roast, and a whole chicken. Both were excellent - so easy too.

If you have any favourites drop them in an email. :) :)
