Even in the thick of darkness, weighed down by grief and shackled by heartache, luck is the light guiding me...ever onward, ever forward, filling me with hope and optimism.
I am grateful that luck is my friend.

Saturday morning knocked on my sleepy head nudging me out of my warm bed into an even warmer shower where sweet smelling soap and luxurious shampoo magically awakened and transformed me.
I arrived at the ferry terminal with a few minutes to spare; luck greeted me as I was told I would still make the 10:40 sailing.
Arriving at my destination the sun peeked out from behind ominous clouds that had been forecast to be a serious threat; luck had intervened and cleared a slice of blue amongst the mounting grey swirls pushing to close the gap. I smiled.
There was time enough for a bit of a drive up island; a little pedal to the metal time when the open road and lack of other drivers gives way to freedom. Top down, hair blowing, luck washed away my worries and cast a spell of peace and contentment over me - if only for a brief moment.
Heading to my final destination on this journey, I arrived at #15 where I was met by a warm and inviting face; the very reason for my adventure stood before me.
Carole Reid, a painter and mixed media artist, was taking part in the Summer 2012 Nanaimo Artwalk and I was there to purchase some of her art; as luck would have it I found exactly what I was looking for.
My journey home was laced with luck as I found delightful conversation and palatable food to fill the hour and forty minutes needed to cross from island to mainland. In a blink of an eye I was home contemplating the adventure I would have Sunday as I introduced new art to my walls.
This weekend was filled with wonderful diversions, and luck was with me as I hung pictures without incident - no unnecessary holes in the walls and no bruised thumbs. (of course it is common knowledge I am good with a hammer - but that may still be due to luck)
The highlight, as I write this, is the profound feeling of happiness and joy these beautiful pieces of art bring to my world, for that I wish to say...thank-you Carole!
Luck.

Here are some photos:
I have chosen to hang the five Carole Reid pictures (a grouping I was immediately drawn to when viewing Carole's work) in a row rather than in any other pattern.
I am in the early stages of preparing for major renovations to my home and these new pictures, along with others I have collected, will help guide me when it comes to choosing colours, fabrics and new furniture.
Does the art you collect influence your mood, your colour palate, your hairstyle? (well, okay, maybe not hairstyle...but what about the others?)
