NIGHT photos INSPIRE the DEMONS within

Visit Write Brain Challenge to check out my latest free write piece, and the photo that inspired it. Thanks, Jenny.

When I’m out walking Miss Lucy I snap photos - sadly, I forget to take my good camera.

I use my iPhone 4s relic and it does a lame job with nighttime photos.

However… I’m always looking for something to stir up my demons.

Here’s a couple that I’ve played with… I see stories hiding behind moons, in branches, and lurking in the night air.

What inspires your writing?

Cheers, Jenny

  1. Those pictures are really cool! (I mean they are better than that, but it is early in the day for me to think of better words.) What inspires me? I like to think its the peanut m&m's, thereby giving me and excuse/reason to eat them!

    1. I wished they'd turned out a little clearer, but, maybe the fact they are hazy makes them more spooky.
Lately the night sky has been so clear and the stars so bright. Which, given I live in the heart of a big city is quite amazing.

I'm right with you with the peanut M&M's… yum…. I'm a Smartie fan too! :)

Thanks for stopping by. Cheers, Jenny

  2. Very cool.

Not so sure if Miss Lucy inspires much fear though! ;)

    1. LOL - she doesn't!

I just love throwing her in the mix. She's getting up there, 15 this March, and I love her little face when she's sleeping.

      Thanks for stopping by.

  3. Ok your doggie is so cute...she needs a good belly rub. As for your relic phone-it takes some pretty neat pictures! I have a pay as you go and it is about 10 yrs old but still works:) These are so spooky and eerie. The last one with the green on the tree really caught my eye

    1. She gets lots of good belly rubs - and ear rubs which she craves.
I'm loath to replace my phone, though I've heard they will be stopping upgrades soon to this version - which really ticks me.

I love when night photos capture something spooky and eerie. And, that last one is my fav of them all.

    1. Thanks Ivy. We have some lovely trees around here. Wee pup loves peeing on them. :) :)

    2. I'll bet she does.

Our back garden has black walnut trees. During high wind storm days, wow, those things are scary.

      Have a great Sunday.

    3. Can you eat those walnuts, or do you have to roast them first? I can imagine how scary those trees would be, particularly if they're dropping nuts all over the place… worse than big hail, eh.

I'm propped up in bed, coffee on the side table, wee dog snoozing at my feet - bliss. And, I'm writing you, double bliss. Have a great day too. :) :)

  5. Very eerie looking shots. I like them but the tree at the bottom draws me in. Why? No idea but I have a thing for trees!

    1. They remind me of that photo you took with the night sky… also eerie. The last photo is my have too. Trees remind me of space aliens, I'm always seeing a story in them.

    1. I'm glad I'm not the only one with a dated Apple product. I call it a wormy apple!

  7. Miss Lucy is such a cutie! That rhymes LOL :D
And your 'relic' clicks real spooky pics! Loved them! :)

    1. Hi Shilpa - yes, my little Lucy is a cutie. Thanks!
I keep meaning to take my actual camera out with for my late night doggie walks to compare… maybe they would turn out the same. :)

  8. Nothing like moon pics to get you dreaming!
I bumped up to the 5C and it is nicer. The 6S cost money so I said no! LOL

    1. They do stir the dark side in me, that's for sure. Not so sure about the dreaming - I seem to be in a really weird place in that department of late.

I've been looking to upgrade. I'm feel these "toys" (extravagant toys no less) are the ruination of mankind - yet, I'm going along for the ruin! But, I am taking a hard look at Apples competition. I'm done being hogtied and forced to accept every new (read useless) system update and model update just because they want more money.

Well, look at that… a wee rant! And so early in the morning - must be the nightmares! LOL

  9. I'm inspired to write after looking at old pictures and realizing, "Ya know, you really oughta finish those books before you die."
I'm also inspired to write when there's nothing good on TV. This happens frequently.

    1. There is something about a photo that can stir the imagination. It also works for things like memoirs where the photo takes us right to the event and we relive it.

As to TV (aka the idiot box as my dad always called it) I haven't had my TV working for the past two years - don't miss it a bit. In fact, last year I read close to 90 books. I'm already making a big dent in my numbers this year.

Though I'm thinking I'm done with Game of Thrones - I'm coming to the end of Book 3 and I'm so pissed that Robb and his mother got "axed" (literally) - like enough already, time to kill of the shitty little Joffrey - man, I'll pour a double when that snot gets it.

I haven't seen the TV series - though I did catch a little of the first episode at my daughter's - decided I liked what my imagination spewed forth better than what the casting folks figured the characters should look like.

So… what are you reading these days?
