Global Twitter/Blogger Happiness Project - Old Man Winter seems happy enough, eh!

Happiness is… ?? You tell me.

Seems Vancouver is finally experiencing some “real” winter weather.

Well, if we were to talk to my buddy, Bushman, I think we’d all agree Vancouver hasn’t got a clue when it comes to what winter is really all about.

Today, a local news station I follow on Twitter (@GlobalBC) featured this photo.

I had to chuckle because we Vancouverites are busy hunkering down for this "big deep freeze" heading our way, yet look at what Regina and Winnipeg are dealing with - yikes.

I took my wee dog, Miss Lucy-fur, out for her morning commune with Mother Nature wearing only a hoodie over my pjs - bear legs and all exposed to these sub-zero temperatures.

Hahahaha

Really!!

I guess the point of all this is to just let you know that I feel quite blessed not having to deal with Old Man Winter’s real wrath and fury.

Seems he (OMW) really hasn’t got much time for us wussy West Coasters and is leaving us relatively unscathed as he busily puts the rest of Canada in a deep freeze!

So, is there some happiness in all of this - you betcha!

Happiness is… a warm winter coat on days like today!

Or, in my case, right now…

Happiness is… being snuggled under my warm duvet - coffee to my right - wee dog to my left; my little slice of heaven in this deep freeze hell!

Cheers, Jenny

How’s winter playing out in your neck of the woods?
Are you happy with it?

  1. I'm in the same neck of the woods, Jenny, and my toes are cold. We have rellies in the prairies, we don't envy them at all. Take care. I haven't seen many of those people who like summer shorts with their winter parkas, either.

    1. Hey, DG - I'm thinking we've got it pretty good when I look at the numbers across the country.
The mailman, who delivers my work mail, still wears his shorts - has done so as long as I can remember! I think he's going for a record! hahahaha

      Enjoy the "cold"! Cheers, Jenny

  2. Hi Jenny - Interesting post as we head into incredibly hot weather, 40C+ is forecast again. My daughter has been with a group of students at Ny-Alesund (Norway) at the Arctic Marine Lab there - it's 78N so naturally she expected bitter cold, -5C is forecast for today - not particularly cold at all so it seems you're copping it while they've had rain and quite mild temperatures.
Oh, and I'm doing the #100happydays on Instagram. A photo a day for a hundred days, and I'm loving it!

    1. Hi Sue - cool what your daughter's doing! Wow!
I'm pleased to see so many of my blogging buddies involved in one challenge or another - it's good to have something to challenge us - so good luck and I'll be checking you out!

A hundred photos - now that's challenging! Cheers, Jenny

  3. Well, since you asked...lol, we've been breaking recording heat temps here in FL. I just now at 10:00 at night turned on the air conditioning because it was just too muggy for me. Does that make me happy? No but the beach does!!! Hey, you asked!! XX

    1. Hey BB - when it gets too hot and muggy I'm not a happy camper. Being by the water must help though!?

Been thinking of you lots - hope life is keeping you smiling! Hugs, Jenny

  4. I don't mind winter because I enjoy the different seasons. Where, I'm not sure how I would like only getting hot all the time.

    1. Hi Happy Whisk, (I smile just typing your handle out) - I'm a fan of the seasons changing hence living here is pretty cool. We get a mild dose of each - nothing too brutal or crazy!

Ditto - only getting hot all the time would make me wilt! hahahaha

      Cheers, Jenny

    2. Sometime I wonder what it would be like to have Christmas in the summer, like they do in New Zealand. I have a blogger friend and her kids have summer vacation during Christmas.

      Cheers and boogie boogie.

    1. Brucie - OMG - is it really you!!!!! WOW! Epic - well, that just filled my happiness quota for the week! Seeing you here is totally awesome.

How goes? I can't imagine working out of doors in winter weather - even here, though the sun has been out daily for the last week, it's bitterly cold (for us anyway) and my fingers (gloved and all) can't take it for long. So lots of my outside work is on hold till it warms up.

I'll be dropping by with a comment over at your blog - I already was there and read it but damn day isn't long enough!

Cheers and huge cyber hugs are being tossed your way! You rock!

  6. 11 below is still cold Jenny! I think we are beginning to see the end and my ducks will be so happy! I thought about bringing them in the house and filling the bathtub up and letting them play in there for awhile. Their white is turning dingy and snow isn't much fun to bathe in! What a mess they would make but it would be worth it to hear them babbling away. It is amazing to hear the happiness in their sounds when they are playing in the water. Can't wait for spring!

    1. Hey Mr. Bushman - so good to see you up and about - another epic smile is lighting up my face!

I'm doing the visual on those ducks and laughing out loud - which has just woke wee dog (who sleep all day long).

I've been loving your writing as of late (actually I always love it) but as of late it's deep and really image provoking - it's like I'm the one living it! Yikes - and dare I say it's too damn cold for my liking! You definitely need spring!

Huge cyber hugs heading your way too! (you and Bruce get those today - cause you both rock my happiness boat) Cheers, Jenny

Thanks for dropping by and sharing your thoughts.

I'd give you a penny for them, but alas we just snuffed it out. Yup...gone!
It's all about the nickel now...so at this rate you can leave 5 thoughts!

Cheers, Jenny
