Questions answered… hmm… okay - these will do.

Me - hard at work, no hammer is too small!
No question is too difficult...

On January 1st I posed a few questions at the end of my post. I suggested that you might like to answer them yourself, and even throw them into a post…

Well, seems like my good buddy Bushman got with the program and did just that - thanks!

You can drop by and check out his answers (they are at the bottom of his great post, a worthy read) and then pop back here and see if I copied him!!

Without further ado - here are the questions… and my titillating answers. (and can you just feel the grin on my face)

Did you accomplish what you had set out to do in 2013?

For the most part - yes!
I had two objectives - one, renovate my house and the other, renovate me.

As to the house - it will occupy my thoughts again this year!

As to me - success!
I set out to reshape my body and regain my youthful energy to which I am happy to report I have done just that. My objective for coming years is to maintain my efforts.

Are you happy with your journey so far?

I am! Really that sums it up.

But, for those wanting a bit more meat on the bone here’s the 411 - as my general countenance is “happy” no journey is ever less than that.

Hence I am happy, journey or no journey.

Will 2014 be “the year”? What does that even mean to you?

2014 is just a number. Shockingly enough I’m in awe that I’ve made it to this number without being incarcerated much to complain about.

It means this is the number I’m living in, at present, so I’ll do my best to stay in it and not drift back into the past with wishful refections, nor look too longingly into the future at what may or may not come my way.

Did you make any resolutions? Have you made the same ones before?

No.

(I love using “no” like that - all by itself, on a limb, just waiting for other words to come along and keep it company - alas it will shiver in the open - alone, but brave, and not needing to lock a door either - eh, Al)

Why is the first of January different than the first of any other month? Or is it?

I’m partial to the firsts of all months and will on occasion use one as a benchmark of sorts.

Mostly, going rogue, I will randomly select a date, with the help of a dart and my calendar, and start something without rhyme nor reason in the middle of the month.

Now that’s living on the edge.

And… last but not least…
If you could change one thing about “you” what would it be?

If you only knew me personally - you’d understand this answer…

I’m as close to perfect as the gods could make me - therefore I cannot risk their wrath by ever entertaining the thought of tampering with near-perfection. It could backfire and then what… I’d be like… you know… like, average!

YIKES - not in this lifetime!

And… if you’ve read this correctly you’ll understand that to me perfection lies in one’s ability to laugh.

Those that can laugh at themselves, with others, and in the face of adversity are truly lucky and blessed for they get to grow old with happy lines etched on their faces.

What else could the gods be thinking when aiming for perfection…

Cheers, Jenny

So… yet another question coming your way… (this will be the year of “the questions” here at Pearson Report… must know, must know all there is to know)

“Laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone” - does this mean anything to you?

  1. I think that saying means that. When you are upset, you feel alone and that nobody understands and they don't want to be around. But, when you are happy, people want to be around.
Renovating is tough. Good for you!

    1. Good one, Ruth.
I do like being around the cheerful much more than the whoa-is-me individual.

Mind you, that doesn't mean I am not there in a heartbeat for serious issues and problems. There's a difference between a complainer of nothingness and real despair and sadness.

How's your renovating - all done, or still some loose ends?

Also, I've tried to download your recent ebook - to no avail Amazon won't let me buy it - check it out and let me know what's up!
I want to support you as I enjoy your recipes. With smiles, Jenny

    2. Our bedroom is done. Next will be the livingroom and kitchen. That will get done as we come up with the money to do it.

I will check out the book problem and let you know.
      Thanks, Jenny.

    3. Looks like we're on the same chapter in the Home Renovation Book - I'll be working on the living room and kitchen once the bathroom is gutted and my bedroom closet is demolished. Yes, I'm going without a built-in closet as I like the free-standing wardrobes - god forbid I can't move a closet to a different corner!
Then it's onto the hardwood flooring - and here I thought this was a little job!
      :P :)

    4. We built a new closet. It was walk-in, but it's an open lay-out now.
I know what you mean about the flooring. I thought it would be easier to just redo the original instead of new. Talk about a lot of work.

I have the link to Amazon.ca. Maybe that would let you?

    5. It worked, Ruth - I'm the proud owner of a Ruth Pearson ebook - high fives!
I'm off to make your Salsa recipe! I'm drooling all over my Kindle! hahaha

  2. Loved your answers. I tell me older brother's since I'm the baby that perfection waited for me...lol. To answer your question...who wants to be around sad, negative people? People flock towards fun! Xx

    1. The girls are always more perfect than the boys - it's the way of siblings… girls rule, boys drool! (hope my brother's not reading this, out'll come the hammer and then I'm done for) hahaha

Your answer rings true, people are looking to up their fun quota, particularly since most of us have negative baggage of our own - who needs to listen to the dronings of negative people when we can listen to ourself just as easily! (and, I'm known for talking to myself about the good, bad and the ugly so I'm not really interested in queing up to get it from someone else)

      Cheers, Jenny

  3. Great answers!
What do I think it means?
No one likes a sour puss! If your happy people will want to be around you. If your a bumpus than people will veer away!
    Here's to a good year!!!!
Oh by the way after I cut a giant load of wood this morning in the 17 degrees below zero weather I came home and had 2 beers and a cigar! (it was a skinny cigar)

    1. Is there such a thing as a skinny cigar - hahahah! Whatever happened to those fat Cubans - weren't they all the rage.
And, don't you just love all those "bumpuses" bumping along with their sour pusses all over the place… good god - where's Al when I need him! hahahaha

Mr. Bushman - if cutting "a giant load of wood this morning in 17 degrees below zero weather" causes you to reach for 2 beers and only 1 cigar I say you deserve a medal.

While knee deep in renovations I pulled back long and hard on my bottle of Bombay - to the shock and wonder of my brother. He was not doing near the damage to his bottle of French Brandy! Ah… the good life!

Yup… it's going to a good year indeed! It's good to be back out here bantering with my posse!

Cheers - tonight I'm having a "strong" tea (gee that Brandy is good) with a cinnamon stick, no less!

  4. I'm happy with my journey so far. I just feel badly for the people taking the journey with me. They have a goofy traveling companion.
    Sucks to be them.

    1. Happy is good! Beats any of the other dwarf by a long shot!

Oh to be a lucky Al tag-along! If you're goofy then I'll be daffy and maybe Bushman will jump in and be a wickedly wild character (his choosing); we'd be a merry lot - leaving no end of hysteric and chaos in our wake.

I think any hanger-oner in the "Al Camp" is one lucky sucker!

    2. Happy was much more fun to hang around with than the other dwarves, Surly, Cheesy, and Smelly.

    1. Hi Linda - I'm all about the laughter - the more belly giggling the better!
I can tell that you're carved of the same cloth in this area - just visiting your blog is confirmation of your excellent sense of humour!

  7. Great post and thanks for making me laugh! :-) That quote does mean something to me. In times that I have been feeling really sorry for myself, times that it may have lasted too long...I was alone or at least felt that way. When I laugh, appreciate life, realize that things could be so much worse and at least I am alive and kicking....then I feel connected and see all the love that I receive. Happy, happy new year!!!!

    1. Hi Tracy Jo - One thing I hope came through is the difference between being there for someone really struggling with something serious and shying away from those that complain about the air being too cold… real struggles and hardships need support, understanding and patience.

We all experience them and having a strong support system is critical - I have my select few that know when I'm bummed it's for real - and then they rally and stoke my humour bone and help get me back on track.

I hope you too have such a support system - I know your struggles are real…

Thank you for dropping by and sharing your thoughts.
      With smiles and hugs, Jenny

  8. Hi Jenny - laughter and lightness of tone - such important aspects of each day .. as you say above patience and understanding are required too ...

Enjoy working the house and finishing it off - each completion can be celebrated ... and in due time the whole. Congratulations on the fit aspect -the new you .. and as you say the more years we come across and we're still reasonably healthy - is just one big plain wonderful year ahead ..

    Have a great 2014 - cheers Hilary

  9. Uh-oh! Renovations! We've been embroiled in a bit of that this year, too. Still some loose ends to tidy up - those things have a sneaky habit of never quite getting done, don't they?

I decided to have a go and answer your questions on my own blog...

    1. Hi Botanist - you've hit the nail on the head when you say, "loose ends… have a sneaky habit of never quite getting done…" - so true. The big stuff is no problem it's all the little bits and bobs that drive me to distraction (aka "the bottle") haha

Thanks for answering the questions - I'll be featuring a link back in my next post.

Cheers, and Happy New Year - the year of No-More-Loose-Ends! :)
