Flowers for my friends...

I needed a little of summer’s magic to shine through on these cold, damp, autumn days that now make up my world.

So today my blog is donning a floral frock and matching bonnet to show her rebellious nature as winter creeps around the corner and slithers down my block.

Also, I’m working on post...not just any post, a special one.

I know, you are saying to yourself, “But all of your posts are special, Jenny” - gosh, thank you, so sweet of you to say.

I’ve been on an epic journey, as of late, and trying to articulate my thoughts has been rather trying...and for me, a gal seldom at a loss for finding her tongue, this is daunting.

So in the meantime...

What have you been up to...regale me with your adventures?

Cheers, Jenny

    1. I was thinking of you, Matthew, and your dear friend, when I opted for this sunny summer look.
You mentioned in your post how the rainy short days were getting to you so this was my way of sending you a little sunshine. With smiles, Jenny.

  4. I've been painting my garage. Then, I'm going to install a new sink vanity in the bathroom (after putting ceramic tile down). After that, I'm going to demolish the kitchen before people with real skills install a whole array of new cabinets.
    Ay, yi, yi.
Looking forward to your post (you took the words out of my mouth-they ARE all special).

  5. Hi Jenny .. love the dahlia and thought of flowers ... for now we must enjoy the autumn colours and winter sunshine before spring bursts forth again ..

I'm almost at the point of moving forward with my life - some sorting still to do - but am ready to press on with my future .. a few steady months as life and things bed down .. should be good.

I think you'd love this music and this movie .. my post:

    1. You are so right, Hilary, enjoying the colours of autumn and even the winter sunshine is important; I do both...today though, a friend of mine is in need of a sunny field of flowers...and I think I needed them too.

I'm sure my blog will find her autumn ensemble soon.

I am heading over to your blog shortly...thank you for the link, and for your caring, thoughtful words.
      Hugs to you, Jenny

But, Jenny, all your posts are special! =P

I love this touch of summer and it's why I am so adamant about keeping my beach theme on my blog. I don't care if there is five feet of snow on the ground outside, the beach theme stays. Well, okay, I care if there's five feet of snow because that is extremely unusual for my area and that would be some major headlines but, well, you know.

    1. Thanks Elsie! The "special" part of my posts is those of you that leave these wonderful comments - my true flowers!

I really enjoy the calm and tranquility of your background...it's why I am often down at one of our beaches - water and me really agree. Hugs, Jenny

    1. I've never had a Thanksgiving where there were 20 people...must be fun, even it it's a daunting task to get ready.

Enjoy it, Becca, and have some stuffing for me. (I love, love, love stuffing - yum)

  8. Ah... you know what I have been up to. Making chainmail until I die. (grin)

Love the flowers. One last defiant stand against the bleak grey of winter. We will not go quietly into that night!

And if you are missing your tongue, better check that cat. I think he's got it!

    1. I think there might be a song somewhere about the "chain mail makin' man" (would be a great country crooner type). *cheeky grin*

Yes, one must fight winter's wicked hold in the "blue" zone - fortunately I am not one who has problems with the dark days...mostly just having mother days! *okay, another grin...the only option*

I already looked at my wee dog re that missing tongue...but she just yawned and rolled over for a belly rub! (Lucky girl she is)

  9. Oh, but all of your posts are always special, Jenny! Hee Hee! I love the gorgeous floral header photo. I'm afraid I've been feeling a bit BLAH for the past week or so :( Anyway, can't wait to see what it is that you are working on. Hope the artwork is still going well. Hugs.

    1. Hi Diane - nice to see you out and about! I'm sorry to read (both here and over at your blog) that you are "feeling a bit BLAH" - it can be this time of year too, besides your disappointment over your recent vacation.

Cheer up, my friend, things will look brighter before you know it! Hence my flowers...meant to add a little sunshine.

My artwork is still going well, exceedingly well, dare I say! Hugs right back! :)

  11. I had the same dahlias in my old garden but mine were red and white, can you imagine those two colours together on such a complex but elegant flower! A masterpiece of nature.

    1. The day I actually put up this post my background and header were of a full-bloom garden with so many vibrant colours...but it got to be too much for me to look at - I'll feature it now and then as the mood moves me.

Dahlias are so pretty and your red and white, I don't think I've seen such a flower...I'm new to gardening so I will keep my eye peeled. Nature is full of masterpieces most certainly. :)

    2. here's how those dahlias look like :) http://thumbs.dreamstime.com/thumblarge_184/11895877503nSKlP.jpg

I've always used them in luxurious flower arrangements with some red or white berries and fern leaves...
