Art Bible; Felt Fun; Sunny Days…what more could a girl want!

Art Bible
I am enjoying my “Sketching and Drawing Bible” - it’s a very interesting read.
I have put to practice a few things I’ve learned. (in preparation for my upcoming art classes)

Felt Fun
Here...a little sample of the fun I had playing with four different tipped felts.

I should mention - I had just finished watching Howl, the Allen Ginsberg movie, and decided to let my mind and hand have free rein. I'm thinking this might be a picture of what my mind looks like after a good howling. (a veritable jungle in need of weeding)

Sunny Days...
are just the best!

Here, take a look. (my header photo was taken during this outing)

I went to Sunset Beach, in the West End, and had a wonderful time snapping a few photos, just for you...so enjoy!

Little boats come from different directions bringing foot passengers to the West End and Downtown Vancouver...

 View looking to the west...

View over to Vanier Park...(I made a video, shot from Vanier Park, of the West End and surrounding area. It can be view HERE)

More Sunset Beach area...

Kayaks, and boats of varying sizes, come and go...

Burrard Bridge is featured in the next two pictures...

An off-lease dog park; a favourite for locals and their pets...

Thanks for visiting...how’s your day going? Sunny, I hope!

Cheers,
 Jenny

    1. Yes, I am lucky...there's a reason we make the top three of the World's Most Livable Cities.
      (Number 3 this year...again)

Thanks for stopping by, Alex! :)

  2. Hi Jenny. Well, that's a very impressive start with you playing with your felt tip pens! Lovely to see the photos of the area around where you live. Quite beautiful, and I love the new header photo. We had a fantastic week of sunshine last week, but now back to the rain I'm afraid! :(

    1. We had a few overnight, early morning showers, but now...gosh, it's beautiful outside. I'm just heading out to mow the grass, and do a little weeding!

Thanks for stopping by, Diane - always good to see you around here! :)

    1. Hi Becca - I like your new avatar...cute! And, very "sunny"! Yes, the felts were fun to play with, I am getting quite excited about my first class (Sept. 19th) - we'll see how it goes!

All is well in my world and I hope yours is going along swimmingly too! :)

  4. These photos are astounding Jenny, they're so beautiful and the sunshine just makes them. I'm glad that you're enjoying the art bible too.

    1. Thanks, Matthew - I have to agree! Nothing like sun to add the finishing touch to a bit of Mother Nature's handiwork.

Ah...the Art Bible...I just hope some of what I'm reading sticks!

      Thanks for stopping by. :)

    1. It was truly spectacular...today is shaping up the same. I've been out enjoying my garden...am heading out there again. (Sneaking in, now and then, for a drink and a peek here!)

Thanks for coming by and checking out my photos. :)

The photos are gorgeous. My favorites are #4 and #7.

    1. I am always intrigued by what people, looking at my drawings, actually see. I should have added that as a question because no two answers are ever the same.

Photo #4 is one of my favourite places when I want to "sit on the beach" - it's not so busy as some of our bigger beaches - as a rule I seldom sit on a beach, I wander and I love walking in the water as the tide rolls in.

Photo #7 is of Burrard Bridge, one of three bridges that offers access to downtown over False Creek. I love the look of this bridge, reminds me, a wee bit, of London's Tower Bridge...or so I pretend! It opened on July 1, 1932.

Thanks for stopping by, Jenn - always nice to see you here. :)

  7. Your drawing is so wonderfully detailed Jenny! And what a pretty place! We don't have views like that in Kansas.

    1. Coming from you, Lisa, I'm tickled and very happy. I love your work and find it very inspiring...so this adventure (my art classes) is in part due to the wonderfully talented artists I follow.

No matter where we live it is important to seek out the beauty...every place has it!

      Thanks for dropping by. :)

You live and such a beautiful area! My kind of place - water!!

You really drew that, Jenny? That is amazing! It's so detailed.

BTW - how are your wallet sales going?

    1. I love the water (being Pisces) and I never tire from my walks in and around it.

Yes...I really drew that! You make me giggle! It wasn't hard...pick up a few felts and just start doodling. As I said to Jenn June (a few comments above) I wonder what you think it is - as we all see in it what works best with our own thoughts/ideals/visions, etc.

Ah...the wallet sales, well, I have four on order...but they are through my business as I'm not interested in this becoming a full-time gig. My main reason for sewing a wallet was because I needed a new one. It just escalated from there. Once I finish this Black and White Series I may pause and see what else tickles my fancy!

Thanks for stopping by, Elsie. :)

  9. Wow. Busy and happy. I like that.

Used to draw with felt markers myself. They were my favorite medium. Mostly because they were cheap. (grin)

When they invented Sharpies I thought I had died and gone to heaven.

That was before I met you, of course. (wink)

    1. Yup, busy and happy, happy and busy...I like that too!

So...pick up some felt markers and get back at it. I would love to see your work. I'm a fan of Sharpies too - for so many reasons.

PS - Sharpies had the same effect on me - then I found A&PS, well, as they say, the rest is history! *grin*

    2. Phew. It's been ages since I drew anything more than a simple diagram. Maybe I can just trot out a few old things and get by with that. I am definitely no Pablum Picasso. (grin)

The others are going to start spreading rumors about us, you know. (wink)

    3. Rumours, what rumours... :P (hahahaha)

And, best not to be "Pablum" (grin), best to be true to one's self! So...on that note, trot out some of the "old things" and let's have some fun! (give 'em something to really talk about!)

You are like one of those really cool treasures that could be found in a box of Cracker Jacks...way back. (no, no, go back even further...way, way, way back) (cheeky and cute, eh)

Thanks for the smiles I'm wearing!

  11. It is ALWAYS sunny here. I will be grateful to get somewhere where it rains. I love your pics, though, I totally want to visit Vancouver.

And I LOVE the drawing. How cool is that? (Very!)

    1. Gotta love the sun, but if you "ALWAYS" have it I think you do miss a little. The change in seasons is subtle enough here but I have always enjoyed them. On rare occasion we get Mother Nature's wrath but even then it's mild compared to other parts of the world.

Visit anytime, Em...I would be happy to be your personal guide and show you this fair city through the eyes of a local!

Glad you liked my doodling efforts! Now, if only those art classes would start! :)

    1. Oh, it will get rainy...it always does! But that's the beauty of Vancouver, it has a stunning weather pallet to work with. As an artist, I never tires of the endless photo opportunities or the chance to capture where I live in all its many colours.

Thanks for stopping by, Martin, and welcome to Pearson Report. :)
